NEET Answer Key, Result Release Date: When Will NTA Announce Update? What Will Be Passing Marks?

Over 18 lakh students are awaiting the result of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET). The medical entrance exam was held on July 17, however, over a month after holding the biggest entrance exam, the exam conducting body National Testing Agency (NTA) is yet to announce any update thereafter. Usually, the NEET results are announced after a month and a half of holding the exam, however, it is unlikely that the NTA will follow the trend this year as before the results, NTa releases preliminary and then main answer key.

While there is no official announcement from NTA on the NEET result, it is reported that the NEET answer key can be expected on August 21. Earlier too there have been speculations, however, NTa has not given any official confirmation on the same, yet. Once released, NEET answer key will be available at neet.nta.nic.in or nta.ac.in.

This year, the number of students attempting NEET skyrocketed as a total of 18,72,329 candidates had registered for the exam of which 95 per cent appeared. This is a jump of over 2 lakh from previous years. This could be one of the factors delaying results. Other factors include alleged cheating scam. A gang of exam solvers was busted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as they were trying to take the medical entrance exam - NEET 2022 on behalf of students. While the FIR has been filed against 11 people, as many as eight have been arrested so far; the connection of many others is being investigated.

NEET 2022 PASSING MARKS

With the rise in the number of applicants, the qualifying marks needed to clear NEET 2022 are expected to rise. Students get percentile scores for NEET. This is relative making. Experts believe that to get passing marks of the 50 percentile, candidates would need to score 150 marks.

Last year, the NEET qualifying marks for general category candidates ranged from 138 to 720, while for OBC, SC, and ST categories, it ranged from 108 to 137. This was, however, a drop from 147 in 2020 and 134 in 2019.

For SC, ST candidates the cut-off is 40 percentile while for PH candidates it is 45 percentile.

The cut-off score depends upon a number of factors including the number of students who took the exam, the total seats available, and the difficulty level of the exam.

The examination will consist of objective questions with either single or multiple correct answers, comprehension problems, matrix match and integer type questions.

Despite the JEE Advanced 2022 being one of the toughest entrance exams to complete, students will be able to succeed if they prepare persistently.

Here are a few tips to keep in mind while preparing for the exam:

1. TIME MANAGEMENT

As the exam will be spanned for 3 hours, hence aspirants must ensure that they align their practice for each subject accordingly, so they do not run short on time for any section in the examination.

For this, it is suggested that aspirants should practice subjects by a quarter rule, starting with 45 minutes per subject in the first round. By doing so, they maximize their overall score and will also increase their chances of cracking individual subject cutoffs.

2. PREVIOUS YEAR QUESTION PAPER AND MOCK TESTS

Additionally, make sure you revise Organic and Inorganic Chemistry in cycles, as these portions require more revision at the end. Just to be adequately prepared for the examination, it's advisable to practice mock tests and PYQs under exam-like

To improve your performance in the exam, make sure the timing coincides with either the morning or evening shift at home with an examination center-like environment so you can analyse your learning for the exam.

3. AVOID UNPRODUCTIVE THOUGHTS

Aspirants often feel overwhelmed and stressed during exams. It is important to avoid overthinking and negative thoughts by including light activities in your day to divert yourself whenever you overthink.

4. HEALTHY LIFESTYLE

Practice and study are important, but maintaining good health is also equally important. Aspirants should make sure that they include a healthy diet plan in their lifestyle and a minimum of six to eight hours of sleep as it leads to better focus and performance.

5. CORRECT SLEEP CYCLE

While the examination is conducted in two slots, it's important for candidates to make sure they sync their sleep cycle with the exam timings with adequate sleep. The aspirants should make a habit of waking up early during the preparation phase, especially in the last month, so that they will be active and at their best during the examination.

Aspirants do not want to miss out on selections in NEET-UG as it is now the only medical entrance examination for admission to medical colleges in the country.

If the aspirant makes a planned and structured preparation for NEET-UG, they can endeavor to succeed in this coveted examination. Here is the roadmap to succeed in NEET-UG 2023, which can help aspirants hit the bull’s eye-

NEET 2023: FOCUS ON CONTENT FROM DAY 1

Syllabus: In-depth study of the syllabus of NEET-UG is a must for cracking NEET-UG 2023. Since the Class 12 Science NCERT-based board examination syllabus and NEET-UG syllabus are almost the same, students should focus on the NCERT syllabus as the first step towards their preparations.

Notes: The habit of making notes of the important chapters and topics helps in better preparation of NEET-UG. Notes are helpful during the time of revision as it consumes less time when compared to revisiting the entire course.

NEET 2023: PREPARE IN EXAM-LIKE SCENARIO

Mock Test: To have a fair idea about the difficulty level of the NEET-UG, it is always recommended to attempt multiple mock tests before the actual NEET-UG examination. The Mock tests give a feel of the actual exam, which can familiarize the aspirant with the examination and help them score better. Mock tests also remove the fear of the examination, and aspirants become confident with the process of examination.

Previous Years’ Question Papers: Trying different and multiple sets of questions is always helpful in a tough examination like NEET-UG. Students should study previous years’ question papers to get an idea of the NEET-UG examination and its difficulty level. Students should always make a question bank which can be attempted time-to-time for better practice of the questions and examination.

NEET 2023: TIME MANAGEMENT IS THE KEY

Time Management is the key to success in NEET-UG. Aspirants should make a timetable of their daily routine for optimum utilization of the available time. Students should make a timetable of the number of study hours, leisure activities, and daily routine activities. Time Management also disciplines a student and prepares them for professional courses like NEET-UG.

NEET 2023: BEYOND NCERTS

Weightage: Identify the important questions and chapters from previous years’ question papers to understand the weightage given to important chapters. Allocation of study hours as per the weightage given to important chapters is crucial to succeeding in NEET-UG.

Study material: The NCERT-based class 12th science board examination syllabus and NEET-UG syllabus are almost similar. However, in order to ace NEET-UG, students must work harder and refer to advanced study materials. Students may take the help of reference books or coaching institute study materials.

NEET 2023: REVISE, REVISE, & REVISE

Doubt Resolution: Aspirants can crack NEET-UG only when their basic concepts and foundation of the syllabus are strong, so they should approach teachers in case of any doubt about the chapters, questions or any topic. Students should try to resolve their doubts as early as possible to get fundamentally sound on the subjects and chapters.

Practice: Try to practice as many diverse questions as possible for scoring high in the NEET-UG. Practicing questions will help students consolidate their foundations for NEET-UG and it will also boost their confidence.

Revision: Course revision is an important activity before the examination as it refreshes the already learned chapters and important topics in the memory. Revising the portions properly is a good habit that can pay dividends to the aspirants.
